What is Keto-Diastix used for?

Keto-Diastix are a quick and easy way for diabetics perform urinalysis for glucose and ketones. Checking for Glucose or Ketone content in the urine can be used to see if the patient is controlling their diabetes.

How should I use Keto-Diastix?

Keto-Diastix allow to to check for both glucose and ketones in the urine. At the end of each strip are two separate testing areas. Both of of these will change colour when in contact with urine.

To perform the test, you need to pass the end of the strip through the urine stream, or you can collect a specimen of urine in a clean container and dip the strip into this.

The ketones should be checked 15 seconds after the strip contact the urine. Glucose should be check 15 seconds later (30 second after contacting the urine. Each testing square has a corresponding colour chart on the outside of the container. The inner-most test areas is used to check for ketones, while the outer test area is used to check for glucose.
